The Association is owned by the student membership and governed by the annual student elect. The organisation provides support to students through advocacy and social outlets.
The Association provides:
- An independent voice for students as and when the need arises.
- Representation to each level of EIT including the top echelon at Council, the Government, and other external organisations.
- Advice and assistance on or about internal and external support services.
The lighter side of student life includes:
- A week long orientation introduction to student life at the start of both semesters
- Getting to know your fellow students at a variety of fun events both on and off campus
- Playing sports socially at the Pettigrew Green Arena, in the local competitions, and at annual national student sports and events
 
The Association office is located in the Student Amenities complex (K Block).
The Student Amenities facility is a great place to dine, chat, play pool and table tennis, or relax in front of the flat screen TV.
The facility also includes a café and two kitchenettes with microwaves.
